1. Information we collect

Information you provide directly

When you create an account and use StepsIn, you provide:

• Account information: email address, password (stored encrypted), display name
• Profile information: daily step goal, weight, height, year of birth, sex, unit preferences (kg/lbs, cm/ft), avatar selection
• Friend connections: the display names or invite codes of friends you connect with
• Notification preferences: which notification types you've enabled and at what times
• Optional content: check-in notes, custom messages to accountability partners, group names

Information collected automatically

When you use StepsIn, we automatically collect:

• Step and activity data: daily step count, distance, active minutes, calories burned (calculated from your profile)
• Device information: device type, operating system version, app version
• Usage data: features you use, screens you visit, in-app actions
• Crash and diagnostic data: to help us fix bugs

Information collected via Apple HealthKit

If you grant permission, StepsIn reads the following from Apple Health:
